Mentor - Cochlear Implants
Memo To: Itinerant Teachers of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing

Hi all....
I am getting AT LEAST one student with a cochlear implant next year (in K), possibly 2 (the other will be in Grade 1 from the Montreal Oral Program). Is there anyone out there with students in primary 2-3 years post implant, who would be willing to have me spend some time with them? I have the THEORY down of what I'll be doing, but I would like to watch a couple of sessions in action!!!
AND/OR is there anyone out there who would be willing to mentor me (email?) for a few months while I get my feet wet?????
ALSO, do your SLPs work on these kids speech or do you?????
Coast or Okanagan would be best, but I'm open to going wherever for a couple days and I THINK I have administrative support for the necessary ProD.

A free information workshop for parents of hard of hearing children, students (11+) and teachers.
Presenters: Karen Taylor, Provincial Outreach Administrator - Deaf and Hard of Hearing Programs and Dr. Susan Van Gurp, Vice-Principal, Provincial School for the Deaf and meet teachers, students from the Oral Program at Burnaby South
